10-YEAR ANNIVERSAY OF THE HOWARD GILMAN MEMORIAL PARK
IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN ST. MARYS, GEORGIA
Day of Service & Celebration scheduled June 25, 2011
Among St. Marys’ many spectacular settings is the beautiful waterfront park where old fashioned wooden swings hang in rose-covered arbors. This is the ideal spot from which to take in the sights and sounds of the river or witness a stunning sunset. Residents and visitors alike have enjoyed a simple stroll through the park, casual and elegant weddings, and other special events that include the ongoing Starry Nights Series hosted by the City of St. Marys each summer.
A Day of Service & Celebration is planned for the 10-year Anniversary of the park. Groups or individuals are encouraged to come out and support the effort. The service event will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 6:30 a.m. —12:30 p.m. A re-dedication proclamation will then be given at 1:00 p.m. by Mayor Bill DeLoughy.
Some of the events to be accomplished during the day are:
· Painting of bathroom facilities, gazebo’s, water fountain, benches
· Planting flowers and shrubs, laying mulch, weeding & trash pick-up
· Supplies/tools provided by City of St. Marys or you may bring your own tools
This event is being organized through a joint effort of the St. Marys Convention & Visitors Bureau and the St. Marys Downtown Development Authority. For More Information call:
