FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…

ST. MARYS LITTLE THEATRE ANNOUNCES

PERFORMING ARTS COMPETITION TEAM OPPORTUNITY

AUDITIONS AUGUST 18

10 AM TO 12 NOON

At LISA ALLEN’S DANCEWORKS

ST. MARYS, GA—Camden’s leading performance arts studios are collaborating to build a performing arts competition team to represent Coastal Georgia in the prestigious “Access Broadway” competition to be held in 2013 in Orlando.

Lisa Allen’s Danceworks, The Friese Studio of Music, and Dina Barone’s Vocal Studio have teamed up to give area talent an opportunity to perform in a regional arena that could lead to national recognition.

The “Encore Performing Arts Competition Team” will represent Camden County with actors, singers, dancers and some entries could be combinations of all three. According to Barbara Ryan, director of the St. Marys Little Theatre, this is exactly the kind of program that can place Southeast Georgia at the forefront in the area of arts education and performance.

“The collaboration of Lisa Allen, Megan Friese, and Dina Barone is a clear example of the old adage of  ‘the total being greater than the sum of its parts,’” said Ryan. “These three women would be considered at the top of their field in any size market, but to have such dedicated, talented performing arts leaders all in one area is truly a gift.”

Ryan went on to say that the trio’s recent collaboration of Camden’s “Love Disney” Summer Camp was an amazing success, and she expects some of the camp’s participants to win a place on the Encore Performing Arts Competition Team.

In order to be a member of the Encore team, you must audition and be enrolled this fall semester in either music and/or dance studio taking private or group classes in dance, music theatre, acting

and/or singing. The competition is open to all ages—children and adults.

Group classes are available at Lisa Allen's Danceworks and the Friese Studio of Music.  Private lessons are available at all three studios. The team practice will be on future determined Saturdays throughout the school year.

Barone, Friese, and Allen agree that “Encore is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn more about the performing arts and learn team building skills which will carry them throughout their lifetime.”

Ryan said, “Numerous attendees have started their professional careers through this innovative program which proudly features constructive and diverse talent competitions, performing arts education and professional opportunities.”

Parents and students should plan to be at the auditions on August 18 for the entire 2 hours (10 am to noon) as details about the team will be discussed once all interested students have completed the audition. Auditions will be held at Lisa Allen Danceworks, 10880 Colerain Road, St. Marys, Georgia.
